Prominent Nigerian cleric, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has once again set the political space abuzz with a fiery prophecy, declaring that Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will not become Nigeria’s president in 2027.
In a recent broadcast on YouTube, Ayodele delivered his pronouncement with striking certainty, insisting that no level of popularity or mass support from Obi’s teeming youthful followers — the Obidient Movement — would alter “God’s ordained decision.”
> “Obi will never be president in 2027,” Ayodele thundered. “Obi, forget. Let them be obedient. One billion obedient, three billion obedient, it will not change what God has decided.”
The cleric went further to issue a dire warning, stressing that even if Obi were to assume leadership, Nigeria would descend into chaos of unimaginable proportions.
> “If Obi ruled this country, this country will turn upside down triple million times — not triple hundred, not triple thousand, but triple million billion times,” Ayodele declared. “Because God did not give the power to Obi. Obi will get there, but there will be confusion. He is not the answer to Nigerians.”
Ayodele’s prophecy comes as political realignments and underground strategies are already gaining momentum ahead of the 2027 elections. Many view Obi and the Labour Party as a rising alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Despite finishing third in the 2023 presidential polls, Obi’s popularity has surged, particularly among young Nigerians frustrated with the status quo.
Still, Ayodele insists that popularity will not translate into victory.
> “It doesn’t matter how many people are obedient, the power has not been given to him,” he added.
The pronouncement is the latest in Ayodele’s long track record of political prophecies — often controversial, sometimes polarizing, but rarely ignored. His words are already generating heated debate across political and religious circles, further intensifying the already charged atmosphere as Nigeria inches closer to another decisive general election.
