TERROR IN BENUE: APC Leader Gunned Down Before Family in Midnight Attack

Tragedy struck in Otukpo, Benue State, as yet-to-be-identified gunmen stormed the residence of a prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, Hon. Ejeh Udeh, and shot him dead in the presence of his wife and children.

The brazen attack occurred in the early hours of Monday, September 22, 2025, when the assailants, who arrived on a motorcycle, reportedly laid an ambush around his compound, waiting for his return.

Eyewitnesses told PM News that the moment Udeh stepped into his compound, the attackers surrounded him and opened fire at close range.

> “They didn’t give him any chance. They just opened fire immediately he entered the compound. His wife and children were watching helplessly,” one shaken neighbour recounted.

The chilling gunshots shattered the midnight silence, sending waves of panic across the community. By the time neighbours rushed to the scene, Udeh was found lying lifeless in a pool of blood. He was later confirmed dead, and his body has been deposited at the Otukpo General Hospital morgue.

The brutal killing has plunged Udeh’s family and the entire Otukpo community into mourning, heightening fears of renewed violence in the area.

Efforts by SaharaReporters to obtain confirmation from the Benue State Police Command proved abortive, as the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Anene Sewusese, did not respond to calls or messages as of press time.

Meanwhile, the incident has sparked outrage among residents and political stakeholders, who are now calling on security agencies to swing into action and unravel those behind the dastardly act.
