A breakthrough has been recorded in Kogi State as security operatives apprehended a notorious suspected criminal, Umoru Faruk Unusah, in Idah Local Government Area.
Unusah, who has long been on the radar for vandalizing government properties, was caught red-handed in the act of stealing cable wires from a solar-powered streetlight.
According to reports shared on the official X handle of Nigerian Stories, the suspect had allegedly masterminded several acts of sabotage on public infrastructure, plunging communities into darkness and inflicting huge financial losses on the government.
His latest arrest, however, marks a turning point in the fight against infrastructure vandalism in the state. Residents of Idah, who have endured repeated cases of streetlight theft, hailed the security operatives for finally tracking down the suspect.
Authorities have assured that a full investigation will follow, with the possibility of uncovering other accomplices and networks behind the recurring wave of vandalism.
