In a bold move to tighten security and curb abuse of tinted vehicle glasses, the Jigawa State Police Command has announced that full enforcement of the nationwide tinted glass permit directive will commence on October 2, 2025.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Command’s spokesman, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, stressing that motorists must obtain valid permits through the official online portal or risk facing the law.
> “The Jigawa State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the online registration and application for the Tinted Glass Permit is still ongoing. The nationwide enforcement will officially commence on October 2, 2025,” the statement declared.
The police outlined a step-by-step digital process for obtaining the permit via the official platform possap.gov.ng. Applicants are required to sign up using their NIN, BVN, or TIN, create and verify their accounts, select the “Tinted Glass Permit” service, upload vehicle details with supporting documents, confirm accuracy, and complete payment.
Following this, applicants will undergo vehicle inspection and biometric capture at their designated Nigerian Police Force Intelligence Department centers. For motorists in Jigawa, biometric data will be captured at the State Intelligence Department (SID), Police Headquarters, Dutse.
The Command also issued a strong warning to motorists to desist from patronizing touts, fraudsters, or unauthorized agents who may attempt to exploit unsuspecting applicants with fake permits.
> “We urge members of the public to follow due process and comply fully with this directive to avoid embarrassment, arrest, or legal consequences,” SP Shiisu cautioned.
With the countdown now ticking, motorists across Jigawa and beyond have just days left to regularize their permits as the police prepare to launch a massive clampdown on defaulters.
