President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has penned an emotional tribute to his wife and Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as she clocked 65 on Sunday, September 21, 2025.
In a heartfelt seven-paragraph message, President Tinubu—who affectionately addressed her as “Oluremi Mi”—described his wife as his confidant, counsellor, and “steady flame illuminating his path.”
“Through every season, from the long years of struggle and political exile to the responsibilities of leadership, you have stood firmly by my side with dignity, patience, and devotion words can scarcely express,” the President said.
He hailed her as more than a spouse, praising her sacrifices, quiet strength, and service to Nigeria beyond the political stage.
“You are more than my wife. You are my confidant, counsellor, and the steady flame illuminating my path. In you, our children and grandchildren see compassion and faith, and in you, our nation sees the true strength of womanhood—resolute yet tender, humble yet unshakably firm,” Tinubu declared.
The President also celebrated her contributions to national life through her advocacy, philanthropy, and leadership.
“As your husband, I thank God for your life, health, and unwavering love. As your President, I salute you as First Lady whose warmth and empathy touch millions across our land. And as your lifelong companion, I say I love you more than ever, and am blessed every day by your presence.”
Joining in the celebration, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the First Lady as a “compassionate and strong-willed amazon” whose influence has left an indelible mark on Lagos, Nigeria, and beyond.
In a congratulatory message signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Gboyega Akosile, the governor highlighted her remarkable service as Lagos First Lady for eight years, her legislative record as a three-term senator, and her ongoing work through the Renewed Hope Initiative.
“Senator Oluremi Tinubu is a great ambassador of our dear state,” Sanwo-Olu said. “She has demonstrated unmatched commitment to women, children, and the vulnerable, spearheading empowerment programmes and philanthropic projects that continue to transform lives across the nation.”
The governor prayed for her continued strength, grace, and long life in service to humanity and Nigeria.
“As our Amazon, Senator Oluremi Tinubu turns 65, I pray for God’s continued guidance and good health for her. God will give her more strength and grace to render more service to our dear country.”
