BREAKING: Gunmen Storm Lafia, Abduct Governor Sule’s Top Aide in Daring Night Raid

Terror returned to the Nasarawa State capital on Saturday night as unknown gunmen brazenly abducted Dr. Muhammed Egye Osolafia, popularly known as Deedat, the Senior Special Assistant on Humanitarian Services to Governor Abdullahi Sule.

Eyewitnesses told Leadership that the assailants struck at Osolafia’s residence in Tudun Amba, a suburb of Lafia, shortly after he arrived home. The heavily armed attackers, who reportedly fired sporadically into the air to scare residents, made straight for their target before whisking him away under a hail of gunfire.

The abduction has thrown the state’s political circle into shockwaves. Peter Ahemba, the Senior Special Adviser on Public Affairs to Governor Sule, confirmed the incident, describing it as “sad, shocking, and deeply unfortunate.”

> “I got the heartbreaking news from a colleague. It is devastating that this could happen again, right in the heart of our state capital,” Ahemba lamented.

This latest kidnap comes barely two months after another top government official, Barrister Yusuf Musa, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Culture, was abducted from his Ungwan Nungu residence, also in Lafia.

Residents have since raised concerns about the rising spate of high-profile kidnappings in the state, warning that the trend threatens not only the security of citizens but also the stability of government operations.

As of press time, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, could not be reached for an official response.

Meanwhile, fear and tension grip Lafia as security operatives are said to be combing surrounding communities in search of the abducted aide.
