The uneasy truce in Rivers State may be heading for another storm, as renowned political analyst, Dr. Majeed Dahiru, has sounded alarm bells over the lingering feud between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his estranged godfather, former Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Speaking in an interview with Nigeria Info FM, Dahiru declared that the political crisis in Rivers State is far from over, hinting at the possibility of a fresh round of hostilities between the two gladiators who once belonged to the same camp.
“I have this ominous feeling that the crisis in Rivers may not have truly ended. This might, in fact, be the beginning of another political showdown within the same camp. I don’t know why, but something keeps telling me that,” Dahiru said with concern.
He stressed that genuine peace in Rivers State would remain elusive unless Wike learns to step back and allow Governor Fubara the free hand to administer the state without interference. At the same time, Dahiru advised Fubara to remain focused on delivering good governance — the very foundation that earned him the trust and support of Rivers people.
The Rivers political battlefield, which has already witnessed months of tension, impeachment plots, and bitter exchanges, could once again be thrown into chaos if Dahiru’s forewarning comes to pass.
Observers say all eyes are now on Wike and Fubara, as the oil-rich state braces for what could become another defining chapter in its volatile political history.
