Tragedy in Kano: Respected District Head, Alhaji Idris Dankabo, Dies in Ghastly Car Crash

KANO – Grief has enveloped the ancient town of Kabo in Kano State following the sudden death of its revered district head, Alhaji Idris Adamu Dankabo, popularly known as Sarkin Gabas, who lost his life in a fatal car accident on Thursday.

The shocking incident has thrown the Kabo Emirate and neighbouring communities into mourning, with an outpouring of grief from traditional institutions, religious leaders, and residents who described the late ruler as a bridge-builder and custodian of peace.

Confirming the sad news, the palace issued a statement late Friday, declaring:
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. A death has occurred to Sarkin Gabas, Idris Adamu Dankabo, who died as a result of a car accident yesterday (Thursday). His funeral prayer will be held today (Saturday) at 10am at the Kofar Kudu of the Emir of Kano’s palace. May Allah forgive him and have mercy on his soul. Amin.”

Until his untimely passing, Sarkin Gabas was widely respected for his commitment to community development, advocacy for peace, and fostering unity across the emirate. His death, many residents say, marks the end of an era for the people of Kabo.

Leaders across Kano have continued to pay tribute, describing him as “a man of wisdom, humility, and integrity” whose legacy will forever remain etched in the hearts of the people.
