BREAKING: Troops Smash Terrorist Supply Chain, Seize Fertilizer for IEDs, Drugs, Solar Panels in YobeBy: Zagazola Makama

In a major counter-terrorism breakthrough, troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) North East, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have intercepted a massive cache of logistics supplies destined for insurgent networks in the North East.

According to a statement by the Theatre Command on Thursday, the decisive operation unfolded on September 16 under the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign, Operation Desert Sanity IV.

Troops, acting on credible intelligence, halted a suspicious red 14-tyre trailer along the Nguru–Gashua road in Yobe State at about 7:40 a.m. The vehicle, heavily guarded and concealed, was later moved to a secured military base for thorough inspection.

By 9:00 p.m., the search revealed a shocking discovery — 700 bags of NPK 20:10:10 fertilizer, a primary component for manufacturing Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), 27 cartons of assorted drugs, and nine cartons of normal saline solution, all cleverly hidden under stacks of fabric bundles.

Military intelligence confirmed that the consignment was marked for onward movement to Niger Republic, exposing the cross-border supply networks that continue to fuel terrorist operations in the Lake Chad region.

In a related development the same day, troops intercepted two Sharon vehicles and another trailer loaded with fabrics and solar panels along the same axis. Investigations suggest that the fabrics were intended for sewing terrorist uniforms, while the solar panels were meant to power their remote camps.

“All drivers, motor boys, and recovered items are in custody, as investigations continue to track down the identified consignees and consignors,” the Theatre Command stated.

The Military High Command has since hailed the troops for their swift intelligence response and operational precision, noting that the success underscores the military’s resolve to cripple terrorist supply chains.

Reassuring the public, the Theatre Command stressed:

> “Our troops remain vigilant, determined, and unwavering in cutting off all lifelines of terrorists in the North East. We urge Nigerians to continue providing timely information to support ongoing operations.”

With insurgents increasingly desperate to resupply, the Yobe interception is being hailed as a strategic victory in the war against terrorism, tightening the noose around insurgent strongholds.
