TROOPS UNLEASH FIREPOWER: BANDIT NEUTRALISED, WEAPONS SEIZED IN FIERCE PLATEAU AMBUSH

In a sustained push to crush criminal strongholds and restore lasting peace in Plateau State, gallant troops of the 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE (JTF OPEP) launched a successful ambush that neutralised a notorious bandit and disrupted their network.

The daring operation, executed on 16 September 2025, was intelligence-led and targeted bandits traversing routes leading into Odare Forest at Dutsen Zaki, Wase Local Government Area. The unsuspecting criminals, mounted on motorcycles, walked into the trap set by troops. In the ensuing gunfight, one bandit was neutralised instantly, while others fled into the forest with fatal injuries.

In the aftermath, troops recovered a motorcycle, two mobile phones, a machete, and charms, all abandoned by the fleeing criminals. The seized items remain in military custody for further investigation.

Fresh Blow Against Bandits in Wase, Kanam

In a parallel offensive, troops acting on credible intelligence stormed suspected bandits’ crossing points in Garga, Showaka, Yuli, and Kukawa Villages across Wase and Kanam LGAs on 15 September 2025. The mission, characterised by tactical precision and superior firepower, sent the armed outlaws fleeing in disarray.

The troops’ dogged pursuit led to the recovery of a G3 rifle, one magazine, and three rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, further crippling the bandits’ operational capacity.

Renewed Vow to Crush Criminals

According to the Media Information Officer of JTF OPEP, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, the onslaught is part of the sustained resolve of 3 Division troops to deny bandits and criminal elements any freedom of operation across the Joint Operations Area.

He reaffirmed that the troops remain committed to “neutralising armed criminals, dismantling their networks, and ensuring perpetrators of crimes face justice.”

The operations mark yet another decisive step in the military’s unrelenting war against insecurity, reinforcing public confidence in the Nigerian Army’s determination to restore peace and stability across the region.
