BREAKING NEWS: Tinubu Lifts Emergency Rule in Rivers, Orders Governor Fubara Back to Office Tomorrow

In a dramatic political turn, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the suspension of the emergency rule in Rivers State and directed Governor Siminalayi Fubara to officially resume duties on Thursday, September 18.

The President, in a statement released on Wednesday, also instructed Deputy Governor Ngozi Nma Odu and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to return immediately to their constitutional responsibilities after six months of political paralysis.

Tinubu’s decision effectively ends the emergency rule imposed half a year ago, a move that had sparked nationwide debate and deepened the political crisis in Rivers State. With this directive, governance is expected to return to normalcy, marking a new chapter for the oil-rich state long plagued by political turbulence.

Analysts see this as a bold move by the Presidency to restore democratic order in Rivers, while residents are hopeful the resumption of civil authority will translate into peace, stability, and development.
