The Niger State Police Command has confirmed a daring armed robbery attack on Deploo Hotel in Madalla, Suleja Local Government Area, leaving guests traumatized and the community in shock.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident unfolded in the dead of night at about 2 a.m. on Sunday, September 14, when a gang of hoodlums, armed with locally-made rifles, machetes, and other lethal weapons, invaded the hotel premises.

The assailants reportedly forced their way into several rooms, dispossessing terrified guests of valuables, including cash, mobile phones, and personal belongings. In a brazen move, the gang also made away with a Toyota Corolla belonging to a guest identified as Mr. Busari Abdulrasaq from Ilorin, Kwara State.

> “They came in like a storm, shouting and threatening to kill anyone who resisted. Guests were left helpless as the robbers carted away everything they could lay their hands on,” a hotel staff member recounted under condition of anonymity.

The chaos left at least three guests injured, with varying degrees of wounds sustained during the attack. The victims are currently receiving treatment at Deyound Hospital, Madalla.

Police operatives from the Suleja Division were reportedly mobilized to the scene immediately after distress calls were made. However, by the time security agents arrived, the attackers had already fled into the night.

Confirming the incident, Niger State Police Command assured that a manhunt has been launched to track down the criminals and recover the stolen items.

> “Our patrol teams responded swiftly but the suspects had escaped. We are intensifying intelligence-led operations to ensure the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice,” a police source said.

The incident has sparked renewed concerns about the rising wave of insecurity in Niger State and the boldness of criminal gangs targeting public places. Residents of Madalla have called for stronger security presence in hotels and other relaxation spots to forestall a repeat of the attack.
