Martins N. Babale: A Proven Scorecard of Service, Now Poised for the Senate

From landmark roads to health centres, youth employment to rural electrification, Babale’s record in the House of Representatives remains a lasting testimony of visionary leadership.

In an era where politics is often littered with empty promises and fleeting rhetoric, very few names stand out for the weight of tangible achievements. One of such names is Engineer Martins N. Babale, a household figure in Adamawa politics whose service record continues to inspire confidence and trust.

As a former Deputy Governor of Adamawa State and before then, the elected Member representing Ganye, Jada, Toungo, and Mayo-Belwa Federal Constituency (1999–2011) in Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Babale left behind a scorecard that speaks louder than speeches. Today, with his eyes set on the Senate to represent Adamawa South Senatorial Zone, his past achievements stand not only as proof of capacity but also as a strong promise of what lies ahead.

A Builder of Roads and Bridges

Infrastructure is the lifeblood of economic development, and Babale wasted no time in making it a priority. He facilitated the rehabilitation of the Mayo-Belwa–Ganye Road, complete with the construction of bridges at Mayo Kalai, Mamoken, and Sandoka by Dakit Construction Company between 1999 and 2003.

Not stopping there, he advanced the Sandoka–Toungo–Jamtari Phase 1 Road Project (2003–2007) executed by Sterling Nigeria Construction Company. These projects broke barriers of isolation, connected rural dwellers to markets, and injected life into the local economy.

Health at the Grassroots

Understanding that a healthy people are a productive people, Babale delivered standard health and maternity facilities across his constituency. These include:

Yeliso Health and Maternity Clinic (2003–2007)

Yebbi Health and Maternity Clinic (2007)

Toungo Health and Maternity Clinic (2007)

These clinics became lifelines for women, children, and rural families, reducing infant mortality rates and bringing medical services closer to communities long neglected.

Champion of Youth Employment

Engr. Babale recognized early that the youth are not just the future, but the present drivers of peace and progress. While serving on the House Committee on Police Affairs, he secured the recruitment of 56 youths into the Nigerian Police Force.

Similarly, as a member of the House Committee on National Security and Intelligence, he facilitated the employment of 11 youths into the DSS (2007). For many households, these opportunities were not statistics but life-changing breakthroughs.

Water, Light, and Hope for Rural Communities

In his quest to end the age-old suffering of rural dwellers, Babale brought water and light to communities across Adamawa South:

215 solar-powered boreholes installed in Toungo, Mayo-Belwa, Jada, and Ganye.

155 solar streetlight panels spread across rural towns and villages.

These interventions gave farmers, traders, and families not only convenience but also dignity and security.

Connecting the Unconnected

From rehabilitating the Timbukum–Timbo rural road in Toungo LGA to opening access for farmers, Babale made sure that even the remotest settlements benefited from his representation.

Why the Senate Needs Babale Now

As Nigeria navigates through challenging times, the Senate requires leaders with tested competence, proven achievements, and people-centered vision. Martins Babale is not an experiment. He is a man with a scorecard that shows his capacity to turn political opportunity into visible development.

Adamawa South stands at a crossroads. In Babale, the zone has a voice that is not only familiar with its struggles but also proven in delivering solutions.
