Jerusalem was thrown into chaos on Monday morning as gunmen unleashed a hail of bullets on a crowded commuter bus, leaving at least four dead and five others grievously injured in a brazen rush-hour assault.
According to paramedics from the Magen David Adom ambulance service, the victims include a man in his 50s and three men in their 30s, while several others sustained injuries from shattered glass as panic-stricken passengers scrambled for safety.
The attack struck at Ramot Junction, a bustling hub on the northwestern edge of the city, just as residents were making their way to work. Israeli police confirmed that two assailants, described as “terrorists,” were swiftly “neutralised” at the scene.
Eyewitnesses recounted moments of sheer terror, with Channel 12 News reporting that the attackers boarded the bus before opening fire indiscriminately at passengers. A nearby soldier responded instantly, engaging the assailants and fatally shooting them before more lives could be lost.
As of press time, no militant group has claimed responsibility for the blood-soaked attack. Authorities have since tightened security across the city amid fears of further assaults.
The incident adds to mounting tensions in the region, where periodic flare-ups of violence have continued to grip daily life in Jerusalem and beyond.
