Awka, Anambra State – The political tempo in Anambra State has reached fever pitch as Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, officially launched his re-election campaign with the inauguration of a formidable 489-member Campaign Council. The event, held at the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) regional headquarters, was electrified by a major boost: an emphatic endorsement from the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo.

Speaking at the inauguration, the National Secretary of Ohaneze Ndigbo and former Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Emeka Sibudu, said the group’s support was anchored on Soludo’s stellar performance and its long-standing principle of backing any governor of Igbo extraction who delivers results irrespective of party affiliation.

“It is in line with the policy and position of Ohaneze Ndigbo that we must support any governor of Igbo extraction that is performing well,” Sibudu declared. “Governor Charles Soludo is doing well, and we are proud to support and encourage him to continue in that regard. The people of Anambra can testify to his transformational leadership.”

Inaugurating the Campaign Council, Governor Soludo described APGA as more united and battle-ready than ever before in its history. With confidence brimming, he likened members of the Council to apostles of a larger state-wide movement.

“This is a Campaign Council of 489 members out of about 8.5 million Anambra people,” Soludo said. “We did it in 2010, 2013, and 2017, but I tell you, there has never been a time in the history of APGA when the party has been stronger and more united than now.”

In a swipe at his main challenger, APC’s Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, Soludo ridiculed the opposition’s boast that the August 16 by-election would serve as a litmus test for the November poll.

“In August, they declared it a do-or-die affair, calling it a mock election for November 8,” Soludo recalled. “But when the time came, they failed woefully. We saw their so-called allied forces – from traditionalists to politicians – gathering against the will of God and the will of the people. And still, they were defeated.”

With the November 8 governorship election fast approaching, Soludo’s campaign launch signals a fiery showdown in Anambra’s political arena, with APGA projecting confidence and Ohaneze Ndigbo’s endorsement amplifying his momentum.
