Sahara Reporters has taken to itt official X handle and announced that, Akure, Ondo State—Shock and horror gripped residents of Kajola in Odigbo Local Government Area after police arrested a man, Eze Elechi Amadi, for brutally killing his younger brother, 18-year-old Otu Ifeanyi, over an alleged N20,000 theft from his bank account.
The gruesome incident came to light on August 26, 2025, when a resident, Oluwafemi Oladipupo, raised alarm after spotting a suspicious blue plastic drum tied with a black rope in front of his residence. Upon inspection, the body of Otu was found stuffed inside the drum.
According to the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, Amadi was caught red-handed while attempting to transport the drum on a motorcycle to dispose of the corpse. “The drum fell off during the attempt, which led to his immediate apprehension,” Lawal revealed during a press briefing in Akure where 99 other suspected criminals were paraded.
Interrogated by police, Amadi confessed to the chilling murder, claiming his younger brother had unlawfully transferred N20,000 from his account.
“The suspect admitted to killing his brother in anger over the financial dispute. The corpse has been deposited at the mortuary, while further investigations are ongoing. The suspect will be charged to court soon,” the police commissioner confirmed.
Meanwhile, Lawal disclosed that the state command had recently intensified its clampdown on violent crimes, with nearly 100 suspects arrested across the 18 local government areas for offences ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping, and cultism, to drug possession and theft.
He praised residents for their cooperation, stressing that timely intelligence from the public has been key to the police’s success in curbing crime in the state.
The chilling case of fratricide has left the Kajola community in disbelief, as neighbours struggle to come to terms with how a sibling dispute over N20,000 could escalate into such a horrific tragedy.
