Tension has gripped Kontagora Local Government Area of Niger State after armed bandits, disguised in hijabs, abducted the Principal of Junior Secondary School Melehe and a Fulani woman in a daring late-night operation.
The brazen attack unfolded on Friday night in Melehe community between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., when four gunmen stormed the area in unusual fashion. Eyewitnesses revealed that the assailants arrived quietly, sat at the entrance of the victims’ residence pretending to be women, and raised no suspicion.
By 11:00 p.m., the calm façade turned violent. The intruders stripped off the hijabs, brandished weapons, and forcefully broke into the house. The school principal and the woman, identified as Aminu Runtoje, were whisked away into the darkness.
Residents say the attack has thrown the community into fear and uncertainty, with families too terrified to sleep through the night. The whereabouts of the abducted victims remain unknown as of press time, while security operatives are yet to release an official statement on the incident.
