President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has once again left the nation’s capital, Abuja, embarking on yet another foreign trip as part of his 2025 annual leave schedule. The Presidency confirmed that the Nigerian leader will be away for 10 working days, splitting his vacation between France and the United Kingdom.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, explained:
> “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja today, September 4, to commence a working vacation in Europe, as part of his 2025 annual leave. The vacation will last 10 working days, during which the President will spend time in France and the UK before returning to the country.”
Tinubu’s latest trip comes barely a week after his return from Brazil, where he paid a two-day state visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Abuja and Brasília.
The President has been a frequent flyer since assuming office, often shuttling between world capitals. In August, he flew to Japan for the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Yokohama, with a brief stopover in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Earlier this year, between April 2 and April 21, Tinubu also spent 18 days in Europe, combining a retreat in France and the UK.
Critics argue that the President’s extended stays abroad and constant shuttling raise questions about transparency, governance, and the true purpose of his trips. SaharaReporters had previously exposed how Tinubu’s foreign medical checkups were routinely masked as “working visits” or “short rests,” fueling public suspicion over the real nature of his frequent absences from the country.
As Tinubu once more trades Abuja for Paris and London, many Nigerians are left asking: Is the Commander-in-Chief’s passport busier than his presidency?
