Mob Justice in Abuja: Furious Crowd Burns Three Park Touts Alive After Fatal Attack on Family

Panic and outrage gripped the Mabushi area of Abuja on Wednesday after an irate mob set three suspected park touts ablaze, following the tragic death of a couple and their young son in a fatal crash allegedly caused by the touts.

According to eyewitness accounts, the suspects—locally known as agberos and believed to be working under the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC)—reportedly attempted to extort money from the family. In a desperate bid to stop the vehicle, the touts allegedly forced their way into the car and wrestled the steering wheel from the driver’s hands while on the Mabushi Bridge.

The reckless act ended in disaster, as the vehicle lost control and somersaulted, killing the man, his wife, and their child instantly.

The gruesome aftermath quickly escalated into mob justice. In a viral video obtained by SaharaReporters, the three suspects were seen lying helplessly on the ground before being doused with petrol and set ablaze by unidentified individuals, as horrified onlookers watched.

In the background of the video, a distraught voice was heard calling on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to urgently intervene and ban AMAC touts from operating in Abuja.

“This is what AMAC agberos have caused here in Abuja. They are causing a lot of harm. It’s high time something was done about it. Imagine—they chased this man, entered his car, and dragged the steering. The man died, his wife died, and his son died. Enough is enough,” the eyewitness lamented.

The shocking incident has reignited public anger over the growing menace of touts operating at motor parks and major highways across the FCT, often accused of extortion, harassment, and violence against motorists.

As at press time, the FCT Police Command had yet to issue an official statement regarding the deaths of the family, the mob action, or the burning of the three suspects.

The tragedy has left Abuja residents shaken, with renewed calls for the government to act decisively against touting and lawlessness within the nation’s capital.
