The Adamawa State chapter of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has ushered in a new era of leadership following a keenly contested election held during the week at the NUJ Press Centre, Yola.
After a transparent voting process, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Maria Albert Zira, announced Felicia Amos Dauda of APL Yola as the duly elected Chairperson, having secured 44 votes against her rival, Rose Anthony of ATV Yola, who garnered 27 votes.

In her acceptance speech, Dauda expressed profound gratitude to members of the association for entrusting her with the mantle of leadership. She described her victory as a collective achievement and pledged to foster unity, professionalism, and growth within NAWOJ.
> “This is not just my victory but a victory for every woman journalist in Adamawa State. I call on all our members to close ranks, embrace unity, and work together for the progress of our great association,” she stated.
The election also drew goodwill messages from stakeholders in the media industry. The Adamawa State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abdullahi Ibrahim, congratulated the new leadership, urging them to embrace teamwork and uphold the values of ethical journalism.
> “Leadership is about collaboration. I encourage the newly elected NAWOJ executives to work as one body in order to build a stronger voice for women journalists in the state,” he advised.
