Fear and grief have once again gripped Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State as armed bandits struck Sarkin Bajaga village on Wednesday, killing a farmer, injuring another, and whisking away several villagers to an unknown destination.

According to credible sources, the assailants stormed the community while residents were working on their farmlands, unleashing terror and disrupting the day’s activities. The attackers, armed with sophisticated weapons, opened fire indiscriminately, leaving trails of blood and anguish.

Preliminary reports revealed that 34-year-old Titus Victor was shot and killed on the spot, while 33-year-old Nathan Andrew sustained gunshot wounds to his left thigh. Nathan was rushed to Bege Hospital, Maraban Kajuru, where doctors confirmed he is responding positively to treatment. Sadly, Victor was pronounced dead by medical personnel.

Beyond the bloodshed, the bandits also kidnapped an unspecified number of farmers, dragging them away into the surrounding forests. Their whereabouts remain unknown, heightening fears of possible ransom demands and further attacks.

Security operatives were swiftly mobilized to the area, and according to local sources, a coordinated effort is now underway to track down the perpetrators and rescue the abducted villagers.

“This latest attack underscores the persistent threat posed by bandit groups in Kajuru and other rural parts of Kaduna State, where communities continue to live in fear despite ongoing military operations,” one source lamented.

As the security agencies intensify search-and-rescue operations, residents of Kajuru are left mourning yet another tragic reminder of the growing insecurity in Nigeria’s North-West.
