APC’s Triumph Rooted in Grassroots Mobilization, Not Vote Buying – Argungu

The National Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sulaiman Argungu, has firmly rejected allegations that the ruling party’s recent electoral victories were fueled by vote buying. Instead, he attributed the successes to strategic grassroots mobilization, visionary leadership, and the renewed commitment of the party’s national executives.

Speaking in a video interview with Symfoni TV, Argungu emphasized that the APC remains committed to democratic ideals and open political engagement, not financial inducements.

> “We encourage our party members, the candidates in particular, and party leaders to mobilize people rather than buy votes. We don’t give money to anybody to go and buy votes. We believe in open democracy,” Argungu asserted.

He explained that the decision of the APC National Chairman to personally spearhead campaign activities across states was deliberate, aimed at showcasing purposeful leadership and instilling confidence in the party’s rank and file.

> “To show purposeful leadership, that was why the new brand national chairman of our great party decided to go out himself during the campaign, to be the soul of these states, so that we encourage our people,” Argungu noted.

According to him, this approach proved pivotal in securing APC’s victory in one of the highly contested constituencies in Kano State, while also strengthening the party’s fortunes in other regions.

Argungu further disclosed that he personally monitored the elections from the APC Situation Room over the weekend. Reports received from party agents across the country, he said, confirmed that the process was largely credible, with no incidents of malpractice recorded, save for a few minor issues in Anambra State, which he said he promptly addressed.

The APC chieftain maintained that the ruling party’s growing popularity is not anchored on monetary inducement but on its ability to connect with ordinary Nigerians at the grassroots, reinforcing the message that “leadership by example” is more effective than transactional politics.
