INEC Flags Off Nationwide Physical Voter Registration, Urges Nigerians To Seize The Opportunity

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially kicked off the physical phase of its 2025 Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across the country, urging Nigerians to take full advantage of the opportunity to secure their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of future elections.

The physical registration, which began on Monday, follows the online pre-registration that commenced on August 18, 2025, and will run Mondays to Fridays between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in all designated INEC offices nationwide.

In a statement released on its official X handle, the electoral body outlined the categories of Nigerians eligible for the exercise. They include:

First-time voters aged 18 and above who have never registered before.

Registered voters who misplaced or damaged their Permanent Voter Cards and need replacements.

Voters seeking transfers from one location to another.

Citizens who wish to update or correct their voter details, such as name, address, or personal information.

INEC further advised Nigerians who had completed their online pre-registration to proceed to their respective State Headquarters or Local Government Area offices to finalize the process in person.

To aid transparency and accessibility, the commission has also published a comprehensive list of registration centres nationwide on its official portal, ensuring voters can easily identify where to register or update their details.

The commission emphasized that voter registration is not just a civic duty but the first step toward shaping Nigeria’s democratic future. By obtaining their PVCs, Nigerians will strengthen their voice in governance and ensure their participation in the 2027 general elections and other electoral processes.

INEC reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent, inclusive, and credible electoral process, stressing that “every Nigerian vote counts, but only those who register can make it count.”
