Adamawa Police Command Rallies Political Leaders, Signs Peace Accord Ahead of Ganye By-Election

In a decisive move to guarantee a peaceful and hitch-free electoral process, the Adamawa State Police Command, on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, convened a high-level peace accord meeting with leaders and representatives of all political parties participating in the forthcoming Ganye State Constituency by-election.

The meeting, held at the Command Headquarters, brought together top contenders including Muhammed Musa (APGA), Eromo Gibson (Labour Party), Shafi’u Sale (AAC), Baba Nyoko H (YPP), Shehu K. Yohannah (ADC), Maryam Ufaro (BP), Yahaya Cholli (Accord), and Muhammed Auwal (APC).

Under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, the engagement underscored the Command’s unwavering commitment to electoral security. It also marked the formal deployment of the Command’s full manpower and operational assets to Ganye, ensuring that law and order prevail before, during, and after the poll.

At the end of deliberations, all party representatives appended their signatures to a peace accord, pledging to abide by the rules of engagement, respect the rights of all contestants, and maintain decorum throughout the electoral process.

Speaking on behalf of the Command, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, reaffirmed that the police will not hesitate to deal decisively with any person or group attempting to disrupt the peace.

> “This peace accord is not just a formality; it is a binding commitment. We have put every security measure in place to protect lives, property, and the integrity of the electoral process,” Nguroje stated.

The Adamawa State Police Command’s proactive engagement with stakeholders has been widely applauded as a crucial step towards fostering mutual trust and ensuring that the will of the people of Ganye is expressed without fear, intimidation, or violence.
