A heated controversy is rocking the Ekpan community in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State after a woman alleged that the community chairman, Comrade Victory Nanakparo, stabbed her three times in the face during a violent altercation.
The alleged victim, identified as Tessy William, claimed the attack occurred on Sunday and left her with severe facial wounds. Taking to social media to share graphic details, William posted:
> “Good day, fam! For those of you asking, this is the man that stabbed me yesterday at Ekpan. He stabbed me three times on my face. His name is Mr. Victory Nanakparo… Ekpan community chairman. Please let this get to the right authorities.”
In a swift response on Monday, Comrade Nanakparo vehemently denied the allegations, describing them as malicious fabrications masterminded by his own brother, Monday Oki, using William — whom he alleged is Oki’s girlfriend — to destroy his reputation.
“This statement serves to inform the general public that I am aware of the allegations made against me by Tessy William, the girlfriend of my brother, Monday Oki,” Nanakparo stated. “Those who know me can attest to my impeccable character. I have never, and will never, raise a hand against a woman.”
The chairman accused his brother of harboring deep resentment following an unsuccessful bid for the position of Youth President in Ekpan, which led to lingering tensions and court disputes.
“I categorically deny stabbing his girlfriend,” he stressed. “Monday is using her to smear my name. I am 100 percent innocent. I have asked the police to conduct a thorough and independent investigation. I am a peace-loving man who has contributed immensely to peace in this community.”
He further alleged that William’s injuries were not caused by a knife or stabbing but by a broken bottle during an altercation, claiming the attending doctor could confirm the nature of the wounds.
When contacted, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, told Sahara Reporters on Monday that he had no knowledge of the incident.
“I am presently not aware of this,” he said.
The incident has fueled heated debates within the community, with calls for transparency, a swift police investigation, and justice for whoever is found culpable.
