In a bold and unapologetic statement, a prominent political group has called on the people of Ganye Local Government Area to reject what it describes as “empty threats and deceptive promises” from Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri ahead of the August 16th Ganye Constituency bye-election.
According to the group, the governor, who is already nearing the end of his second and final term with just over a year left in office, has suddenly remembered Ganye—a region he has consistently sidelined in appointments and developmental projects.
“For nearly seven years, Ganye has been treated like an outsider in its own state. No meaningful capital project, no major infrastructure, and virtually no representation in Fintiri’s cabinet,” the group stated. “Now, because there is a bye-election, he’s promising the moon and the stars—but only if the people vote for his PDP candidate? That’s an insult to our collective intelligence.”
The political group recalled that Governor Fintiri had previously dismissed Ganye as an APC stronghold and used that as justification for denying the area any significant attention. “He said it himself—Ganye is for APC, and he will not consider us. But suddenly, we are now worth his promises? This is political desperation, not leadership,” they added.
With the bye-election fast approaching, the group is urging Ganye’s voters to be wise and not fall for the same political tricks that have left them in neglect and underdevelopment. “Governor Fintiri had more than six years to prove he cared about Ganye. He did nothing. If he couldn’t do it in all those years, what makes anyone think he’ll do it now, with just one year left?” they questioned.
They stressed that should the governor fail to support Ganye with any genuine capital project, a future administration—untainted by political bias—will certainly rise to the occasion and deliver the development the area deserves.
The group further declared that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has failed Ganye, and that now is the time for a new political direction—one grounded in truth, fairness, and tangible development.
“It’s time to do the needful. Let us forget about failed promises and take our destiny into our own hands. Ganye deserves better than token promises and political manipulation. PDP has failed us. This is our moment to rise,” the group concluded passionately.
As the countdown to the August 16 bye-election continues, the political atmosphere in Ganye is heating up—with voters facing a crucial decision that could shape the region’s future for years to come.
