Adamawa State Government has constituted a 21-member Relief and Post-Recovery Committee to ascertain damage caused by the recent flood disaster and to identify possible strategies of post flood recovery and assistance to disaster victims.
The committee headed by the Deputy Governor Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta with Representatives from various government agencies, security forces and community leaders are expected to ensure fairness, transparency, diligence and relief to affected communities.
In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Humashi Wonosikou, the governor assured the Adamawa community of its determination to ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens.
“We are committed to providing relief and support to affected communities and working towards sustainable solutions to mitigate future disasters,” the Governor stated.
Hon. Awwal Tukur, the Secretary to the State Government is to serve as the Secretary of the committee, Hon Kabiru Mijinyawa, Bello Hammandiram, Mohammed Sadiq Wali, NEMA Repressentative, Executive Secretary, ADSEMA, Army Representative, Air Force Representative, Police Representative, DSS Representative and NSCDC Representative as members.
Other Members are, Chairman Yola South Local Government, two Muslim Council Representatives, two CAN Representatives, NESREA Representative, District Head of Yola, District Head of Bole/Yolde Pate and the Secretariat Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
The constitution of the committee is part of government’s immediate response to the recent flood in the state which claimed no fewer than twenty-three lives and fifty-five Residents injured with property worth millions of Naira destroyed.
