In a daring and highly coordinated operation, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) have successfully neutralised three notorious terrorist kingpins in Sabon Birni Local Government Area (LGA) of Sokoto State, delivering a significant blow to bandit networks operating in the region.
According to frontline sources, the ambush was executed on July 25, between Mallamawa and Mazau villages in the Tsamaye/Mai Lalle District, following actionable intelligence on the movement of the terrorists.
The neutralised kingpins, identified as Kachalla Nagomma, Gurmu, and Ali Yar Daribiyar, were reportedly on a mission to extort illegal levies and collect ransom payments from residents when troops struck with deadly precision. In the aftermath, the soldiers recovered three AK-47 rifles with magazines and a motorcycle, believed to be used for swift transit during their criminal exploits.
Sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama under condition of anonymity revealed that the operation has sparked waves of jubilation and relief across the affected communities, particularly in Mai Lalle, Tsamaye, Rimaye, and other nearby settlements in Sabon Birni and Goronyo LGAs.
> “These men were the architects of fear—responsible for countless killings, kidnappings, and extortion in our communities. Their elimination is nothing short of a turning point for us,” said one resident.
This latest success is part of ongoing intensified kinetic and non-kinetic operations by the military, carried out in close collaboration with other security agencies and committed local vigilante groups.
The Nigerian military has once again called on members of the public to continue supplying credible, timely intelligence to enable forces to sustain the momentum in the fight against terrorism and banditry.
As Operation FANSAN YAMMA continues to decimate terror cells in Nigeria’s northwest, the resolve to restore peace and security remains unshaken.
