In a chilling pre-dawn home invasion, police in Jigawa State have arrested a 20-year-old suspected armed robber after he and his gang reportedly stabbed and robbed a resident in Roni Local Government Area.

The suspect, identified as Alpha Samaila of Sabuwar Unguwa, Roni, was apprehended following a swift response by law enforcement operatives, just hours after the gang allegedly broke into the residence of one Abubakar Yahaya in the Kofar Kudu area of Roni town around 2:30 a.m.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Lawan Adam, the victim was viciously assaulted and stabbed with a sharp object during the robbery. The gang made away with ₦170,000 in cash and a Tecno Hot 40i smartphone.

The brutal attack triggered a distress call to the police at about 4:30 a.m., prompting an immediate response by a patrol team led by the Divisional Crime Officer. The victim was quickly rushed to a local healthcare center where he received medical attention and was later discharged in stable condition.

An intensive investigation led to the arrest of Alpha Samaila, who is said to be cooperating with authorities as efforts intensify to apprehend the remaining members of the gang.

Commending the gallant efforts of officers from Roni and Aujara Divisions, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, lauded their prompt and effective response, stating that the Command remains resolute in its mission to protect lives and property across the state.

> “Let it be clear—Jigawa State will not be a safe haven for criminals,” CP Muhammad warned. “Our men are on alert and will continue to act decisively against those who threaten the peace and security of our people.”

The police have urged residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and cooperate with security agencies in the ongoing fight against crime.
