Tinubu Unveils Plan for Ultra-Modern APC National Secretariat in Abuja

In a bold move symbolizing renewed strength and forward momentum for the ruling party, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday unveiled plans to construct a state-of-the-art national secretariat for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja.

Speaking during the 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the APC held at the State House Conference Centre, President Tinubu declared, “We’ll look for an appropriate land to build a befitting secretariat,” igniting applause from party chieftains and stakeholders present.

Although the President did not disclose the cost or timeline for the proposed project, his pronouncement signals a strategic vision to rebrand and reposition the APC as a modern political institution ready to deliver on its promises.

The party’s current headquarters, known as Muhammadu Buhari House, is located at 40 Blantyre Street in the highbrow Wuse II district of Abuja. Acquired under the leadership of the party’s Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, the edifice was officially named after former President Muhammadu Buhari in June 2021 following a N2.5 billion payment for the property.

Despite hosting its last NEC meeting at the Buhari House, the party opted for the Presidential Villa as the venue for Thursday’s emergency gathering—an unusual move that underscores the gravity of deliberations and the importance of the new direction Tinubu is charting for the APC.

Observers believe the proposed secretariat project could become a symbol of unity, ambition, and political dominance for the APC, especially as the party prepares for future electoral battles and internal restructuring.

While details remain scant, insiders suggest the new secretariat will likely be a multi-purpose, tech-driven complex capable of housing all arms of the party’s operations—from grassroots mobilization offices to media hubs and think tanks.

President Tinubu’s announcement is already stirring excitement among loyalists, many of whom view it as a bold step toward cementing the APC’s legacy as a party of progress, development, and modern governance.
