Tragedy in Kaduna: Bandits Storm Church Meeting in Kajuru, Kill 5 Worshippers, Injure 3

In a chilling escalation of violence, armed bandits stormed a church meeting in Kampani Village, Maro, within the Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, brutally killing five worshippers and leaving three others gravely injured.

Renowned counterinsurgency expert and security analyst, Zagazola Makama, revealed the harrowing incident via his official X handle, stating that the attack occurred during a gathering of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) on Friday, July 11, at approximately 3:30 p.m.

According to reliable sources from the Kaduna State Police Command, the assailants struck without warning, opening fire on the unsuspecting congregants in what has been described as a calculated and cold-blooded ambush.

It wasn’t until around 9:20 p.m. that a Good Samaritan alerted authorities about the massacre. A rapid response team comprising police operatives and personnel from sister security agencies was dispatched to the village, where the full scale of the carnage was confirmed.

The deceased have been identified as Victor Haruna, Dogara Jatau, Luka Yari, Jesse Dalami, and Bawu John—all active members of the church community. Despite efforts to save them, they were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital due to gunshot wounds.

Three other worshippers — Samuel Aliyu, Philip Dominic, and Jacob Hussaini — sustained life-threatening injuries and are currently receiving intensive medical care at a local healthcare facility.

Authorities say efforts are underway in collaboration with multiple security outfits to track down and apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous act. The community, meanwhile, is reeling in shock, grappling with the trauma of yet another unprovoked assault on innocent civilians.

This incident is the latest in a string of violent attacks that have plagued Kajuru LGA, a region long troubled by recurring security breaches. Calls for enhanced security measures and justice for the victims are growing louder from both local and national stakeholders.
