Former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalung, has issued a bold and blistering prophecy ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, stating that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is bound for defeat — even if his son, Seyi Tinubu, is appointed Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Dalung made this explosive declaration during a no-holds-barred interview on New Central on Friday, accusing President Tinubu’s administration of unleashing hardship, poverty, and repression on Nigerians. According to the fiery ex-minister, the current government has weaponised suffering to subdue the masses while turning corruption, impunity, and injustice into the order of the day.
> “Nigerians should buckle up for 2027 because the battle line has been drawn,” Dalung thundered. “This administration has declared war on the people. It has weaponised poverty, hunger, and hardship and has institutionalised corruption and injustice.”
In his passionate call to action, Dalung urged opposition leaders to rally under the banner of the newly reinvigorated African Democratic Congress (ADC) — a rising coalition platform he believes is Nigeria’s last hope to dismantle the grip of the All Progressives Congress (APC) come 2027.
> “The only option we have now is to align with the coalition movement to reposition ourselves and confront this government head-on in 2027,” he stated.
The former minister minced no words in predicting President Tinubu’s political downfall, asserting that no amount of electoral manipulation or nepotistic appointments could save the APC from defeat.
> “Like I told President Tinubu: even if the 36 state governors decamp to the APC, even if he appoints his son Seyi as INEC chairman and his wife as Chief Justice of Nigeria — even if INEC becomes the last institution to officially decamp — this government will still be rejected by Nigerians and defeated in 2027.”
Dalung’s comments come in the wake of renewed political realignments, with opposition figures — including former governors, lawmakers, and ministers — gravitating toward the ADC as a unifying platform to challenge the APC’s rule.
As the political temperature rises and discontent deepens across the country, Dalung’s declaration signals the beginning of what may become a fierce political battle in the countdown to 2027 — one that could reshape Nigeria’s democratic future.
