The Adamawa State Police Command has issued a stern warning against the rising threat of violence following two brazen arson attacks in Lamurde and Guyuk Local Government Areas. In a press release shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the Command condemned the deliberate acts of “mischief by fire” which occurred on July 2, 2025.

According to the statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje (ANIPR), unidentified assailants torched thatched homes in Lafiya (Lamurde LGA) and Boshikiri village (Guyuk LGA). The infernos led to the total destruction of properties belonging to Mrs. Ododumga Kenneth and Mr. Nura Haruna, leaving the affected families devastated and homeless.

Reacting to the disturbing incidents, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, PSC(+), has ordered an immediate and thorough investigation. He also directed the urgent deployment of tactical police units to both communities to forestall further unrest and restore public confidence.

“The perpetrators of these cowardly attacks will be tracked down and brought to justice. Anyone found instigating violence or engaging in criminality will face the full weight of the law,” the CP declared.

In a strong appeal to the public, the Command urged residents to remain peaceful, avoid acts of retaliation, and assist security operatives by providing credible information that could lead to the arrest of those behind the attacks.

The Adamawa State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property while maintaining law and order across the state.
