“Tinubu’s Machiavellian Chessboard: Dele Momodu Predicts More Political Casualties in APC Power Struggle”

Veteran journalist and political commentator, Dele Momodu, has sparked intense discourse following a fiery Facebook post in which he dissected the unraveling internal tensions within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). With biting prose and historical insight, Momodu warned that what the nation is witnessing is only the beginning of a deeper political implosion within the party — a scripted drama long in the making.

“I knew this day would come — when katakata go burst for APC,” Momodu wrote, referencing the unfolding crises and betrayals within the party’s top ranks. In a no-holds-barred post that has since gone viral, he argued that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership style, honed during his decades-long grip on Lagos politics, is now playing out on the national stage — and with brutal consequences.

“How could anyone have thought Tinubu’s style would ever change after capturing Lagos unchallenged for 26 years?” he asked rhetorically, asserting that what Vice President Kashim Shettima is reportedly experiencing today mirrors a well-worn pattern from Tinubu’s political playbook.

Momodu recalled how several Lagos Deputy Governors were politically sacrificed during Tinubu’s reign as Lagos helmsman. “Governor Ambode was the biggest casualty. Governor Sanwo-Olu merely escaped by the whiskers recently,” he noted.

Taking a swipe at the controversial alliance between Tinubu and the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, Momodu dropped a loaded Yoruba proverb: Iwa jọ wa ni nje ọrẹ jọrẹ — roughly translated as “birds of the same feather flock together.” He described both leaders as “maximum rulers,” adding ominously, “Sooner rather than later, things we never anticipated will happen.”

Turning his focus to APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, Momodu painted a picture of a man used and discarded. “Ganduje is a tragic hero who took bullets for Tinubu. But like all lackeys, his usefulness has expired,” he wrote, warning Senate President Godswill Akpabio to tread carefully. “This current power is absolutely for Tinubu — no one else should fool himself. No one is indispensable; everyone is expendable.”

Drawing a comparison to Niccolò Machiavelli’s The Prince, Momodu declared: “This is the season of Machiavelli. More victims will fall on the battlefield. No one is sacred.”

Ganduje, he noted, is already being made the scapegoat for the APC’s dwindling fortunes. “One analyst even said he should have brought El-Rufai back after he was humiliated by the National Assembly. But Ganduje knew the real power that betrayed Nasiru — and dared not meddle.”

Momodu’s parting shot was both sardonic and theatrical: “Never mind, and don’t be too far from this page for regular analysis and gossips… And remember to grab your popcorn and coke.”

With the 2027 elections on the horizon and tensions within the APC escalating, Dele Momodu’s sharp-tongued observations may prove prophetic — or even catalytic. Either way, the political theatre is far from over, and as he implied, it’s best to watch closely… with snacks in hand.
