The Enugu State Police Command has launched an intensive manhunt for a yet-to-be-identified man who gruesomely murdered his female companion inside a hotel room in Nsukka and fled the scene without a trace.
The tragic incident occurred at Madoka Hotel, situated along Ibagwa Road in Nsukka, on Saturday. According to reports, the young woman had checked into the hotel with the suspect on Friday evening. By Saturday morning, the man claimed to hotel staff that his companion had left early.
However, suspicions were raised when hotel cleaners entered the room later that day only to make a chilling discovery — the lifeless body of the woman concealed under a mattress and covered with a bedsheet.
In a statement to journalists, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the murder but debunked widespread rumors suggesting ritualistic motives.
> “The body was found intact, with no signs of mutilation or removal of any body parts. The narrative making rounds about rituals or body part harvesting is baseless and misleading. This is clearly a case of cold-blooded murder,” SP Ndukwe clarified.
As investigations intensified, SaharaReporters gathered that several staff members of the hotel have been taken into custody to assist with inquiries. The identity of the victim remains unknown as of press time, but efforts are ongoing to establish her name and background.
A source familiar with the investigation revealed:
> “After committing the heinous act, the suspect carefully placed the mattress over her body and covered it with a bedsheet — possibly to delay detection.”
The police have vowed to track down and apprehend the suspect, who is believed to have fled immediately after committing the crime.
The Enugu State Command is urging members of the public to provide any useful information that could lead to the arrest of the fugitive. They stressed that no piece of information is too small and that confidentiality will be maintained.
This deeply disturbing murder has sent shockwaves across the Nsukka community, prompting renewed calls for tighter security protocols in hotels and stronger guest identification procedures.
As the manhunt continues, authorities have assured the public that justice will be served and the culprit will face the full wrath of the law.
