Crackdown in the Shadows: Abuja-Kaduna Police Sting Nabs Notorious Kidnappers Linked to Deadly Attacks

In a major breakthrough against organized crime, operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have apprehended three notorious and wanted kidnappers during a high-stakes sting operation spanning Abuja and Kaduna State.

The operation, executed on June 29, 2025, was the result of weeks of intelligence gathering and strategic planning. Led by the Commander Anti-Kidnapping Unit, ACP Victor O. Godfrey, the team swooped in on targeted locations in Wukushi and Mpape areas of Abuja, as well as Rigina in Kaduna State.

According to a press statement issued on Tuesday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the suspects — Abdulkadir Abubakar of Mpape, Abuja; Mohammed Tasiu Sani, 25, of Rigina, Kaduna State; and Suleiman Jibrin, 27, from Sabon-Gayan, Kaduna State — are linked to a spate of violent kidnappings and armed assaults across Jere, Kajuru, and parts of the FCT.

Police investigations uncovered that the gang operated from deep forest hideouts in Kachia and Rigina, where abducted victims were held under harrowing conditions for extended periods. The suspects have also been linked to criminal activities that have terrorized communities and commuters along the volatile Abuja-Kaduna corridor.

In a dramatic turn during the raid, security operatives recovered an operational motorcycle — locally referred to as a “Boko Haram motorcycle” — used by the gang to traverse rugged terrains undetected. The police say further efforts are underway to recover additional arms caches and to track down other fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ajao Sunday Adewale, commended the courage, professionalism, and tactical precision demonstrated by the officers involved in the operation. He assured residents that the Command is doubling down on efforts to rid Abuja and its environs of criminal elements.

“Our men remain on the offensive, and we call on well-meaning citizens to continue providing actionable intelligence that will aid in dismantling these networks of terror,” CP Adewale stated.

The arrested suspects are currently in police custody and are said to be providing critical leads as investigations intensify. Authorities remain optimistic that this breakthrough will help dismantle one of the region’s most entrenched kidnapping networks and restore public confidence in the safety of Abuja and surrounding states.
