The Adamawa State Police Command has announced the discovery of a missing child, Hamza Abdullahi, believed to be about 12 years old, who was found wandering near an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Song Local Government Area on June 29, 2025.
According to a statement released on the Command’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the young boy was rescued by a Good Samaritan who brought him to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Song LGA. Upon questioning, Hamza identified himself as a native of Dokoro Village, located in Dukku Local Government Area of Gombe State.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, PSC(+), has appealed to members of the public, especially residents of Adamawa and Gombe states, to assist with any information that could help trace the boy’s family and facilitate a safe reunion.
CP Morris also used the opportunity to decry the alarming trend of parental negligence, emphasizing that the abandonment or lack of supervision of minors not only puts them at risk of abduction and abuse but also exposes them to environments where their safety and well-being cannot be guaranteed.
> “No child deserves to roam aimlessly or live in fear. Every parent must be held accountable for their child’s protection. We must all rise to protect the most vulnerable among us,” the Commissioner stressed.
The Command urged anyone with credible information regarding the boy or his family to contact the Divisional Police Officer in Song via 08069560863, or reach out to the Public Relations Office of the Adamawa State Police Command.
