Over 300 Heavily Armed Bandits Storm Police Camp in Kebbi, Cart Away Rifles, Torch Patrol Vehicle

Renowned security analyst and counterinsurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, has raised the alarm over a brazen and coordinated attack by over 300 armed bandits on a police camp in Kebbi State. Makama disclosed the incident via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, sending shockwaves across Nigeria’s security architecture.

According to credible sources who spoke to Makama, the assault occurred on Thursday afternoon around 1:00 p.m. in Makuku Village, located in the volatile Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The attackers—believed to be heavily armed cattle rustlers—were reportedly transiting with a large herd of stolen livestock from Niger State, en route to Zamfara, when they launched the devastating ambush.

What followed was an intense and prolonged exchange of gunfire between the police officers and the insurgents. Despite putting up a courageous defense, the officers on ground were eventually overpowered by the sheer number and firepower of the attackers.

In the chaos, the assailants set ablaze a police operational Toyota Hilux patrol vehicle and made away with eight AK-47 rifles, further compounding the security concerns in the region.

Responding swiftly, troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, supported by other security formations, were immediately deployed to the scene. A joint search-and-rescue mission was launched with the aim of pursuing the fleeing bandits, recovering the stolen firearms, and restoring order in the affected communities.

Military sources revealed that troops are actively tracking the bandits along their escape routes and are committed to apprehending those responsible for the daring raid.

The attack has once again underscored the deepening security crisis plaguing Nigeria’s North-West and the urgent need for reinforced counterinsurgency operations in rural flashpoints.
