The Adamawa State Police Command has recorded yet another milestone in its unrelenting campaign against crime, following the successful arrest of a notorious armed robbery suspect in Zangun, Numan Local Government Area.
In a statement released on its official X handle, the Command announced the arrest of one Zephaniah Alfred, a 29-year-old suspect believed to be the mastermind behind a string of armed robbery attacks that have terrorized commuters along the Numan–Gombe Road and surrounding communities.
The breakthrough came after a distress complaint was lodged by Mr. Ibrahim Maikano, who reported that the suspect had issued death threats against him. Acting swiftly on the complaint, operatives from the Numan Divisional Police Headquarters, under the directive of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), launched a tactical operation that led to the suspect’s arrest.
A comprehensive search executed at Zephaniah Alfred’s residence yielded a cache of incriminating items, including:
One (1) locally fabricated pistol
Two (2) live AK-47 rifle rounds
One (1) live pistol ammunition
One (1) live shotgun cartridge
One (1) full set of military camouflage uniform
Four (4) military camouflage caps
Two (2) camouflage-patterned T-shirts
One (1) tactical black torchlight
All recovered items have been taken in as exhibits and will form a crucial part of the ongoing investigation.
The suspect, who has long been on the Police Command’s wanted list for multiple armed robbery cases, is currently in custody and cooperating with investigators.
Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, psc (+), in close coordination with the Brigade Commander of the 23 Armoured Brigade Yola, has assured the public that the investigation will be thorough and all angles explored to ensure justice is served. The CP reaffirmed the Command’s unflinching commitment to protecting lives and property across the state, stressing that there will be no hiding place for criminals in Adamawa.
The suspect will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
