In a chilling development that has sent shockwaves through Nigeria’s security architecture, notorious terrorist kingpin Bello Turji has launched a deadly ambush against members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), killing several and leaving many others missing.
Renowned counterinsurgency expert and frontline security analyst, Zagazola Makama, revealed the disturbing incident via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle. According to Makama, the ill-fated CJTF operatives—also referred to as hybrid forces—embarked on a mission without notifying troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, the military’s coordinated anti-banditry operation in the region.
The rogue mission ended in bloodshed as Turji and his fighters reportedly laid a well-planned ambush, leading to the deaths of multiple CJTF operatives. The exact number of casualties remains unclear, with several members still unaccounted for, fueling fears of more fatalities or abductions.
Security observers have condemned the unilateral action by the hybrid forces, noting that such unsanctioned operations compromise the integrity of military efforts and often end in tragedy.
