🌱 The Birth of a Vision

Founded in 2025, the Abdulhamid M. Tukur Foundation was created out of a deep personal conviction to uplift communities through education, entrepreneurship, IT training, agriculture, and rural development.

In an era where grassroots empowerment is increasingly becoming the bedrock of sustainable national development, The Pioneer Newspaper sat down with Abdulhamid Tukur, the visionary Founder and Executive Director of the Abdulhamid M. Tukur Foundation (AMTF). In this riveting interview, Tukur opens up about his passion for quality education, entrepreneurship, and rural transformation, as well as the mission behind his newly launched non-governmental organization.

Q: How would you like us to address you?
You may address me as Abdulhamid Tukur, Founder and Executive Director of the Abdulhamid M. Tukur Foundation (AMTF).

Q: Tell us the story behind your NGO. How did it all begin?
The Abdulhamid M. Tukur Foundation (AMTF) was officially launched in 2025, born out of an unwavering desire to bridge the widening gap in access to quality education, youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, IT skills, agriculture, and rural development in Nigeria. This foundation is my personal commitment to give back to society—especially to communities often left behind. I believe that true development starts from the grassroots, and AMTF is positioned to champion that transformation by investing in people.

Q: What are the core objectives your foundation hopes to achieve?
At AMTF, we are guided by a focused vision. Our objectives include:

Promoting inclusive access to quality education, especially for children and youth in underserved communities.

Empowering women and young people with entrepreneurial, IT, and vocational skills to thrive in today’s digital and competitive economy.

Supporting micro and small enterprises (SMEs) through training, mentorship, and access to startup resources.

Driving rural development via healthcare outreach, access to clean water, and other infrastructure projects.

Advancing agricultural productivity by supporting smallholder farmers and promoting agribusiness initiatives.

Strengthening partnerships and advocacy to scale our impact across Nigeria.

Q: Have you made any progress since your establishment?
Absolutely, even though we are still in our early stages, the momentum is building. In 2025, we rolled out a pilot intervention by providing educational support to 10 underprivileged children in a local public school. This may seem small, but it is a powerful symbol of what we are determined to achieve at scale. Our flagship programs, which cut across education, entrepreneurship, and rural development, are set to launch in the coming months.

Q: What challenges have you encountered in your journey so far?
Running a foundation—especially one focused on grassroots development—comes with its share of hurdles. Our major challenges include:

Inadequate funding and resources, which limit the speed and scale of our interventions.

Poor infrastructure in rural areas, making access and logistics a continuous challenge.

Limited access to technical partnerships and training opportunities, which are essential for growth and impact.

Despite these setbacks, our resolve remains unshaken. We are building a network of passionate volunteers and partners to overcome these limitations.

Q: What message do you have for the public and potential partners?
We extend a heartfelt invitation to individuals, corporate bodies, government agencies, and development partners to join hands with us. The Abdulhamid M. Tukur Foundation (AMTF) is more than an organization—it is a movement to uplift lives, inspire hope, and create lasting change. With your support, we can transform schools, empower dreams, and light up rural communities across Nigeria. Together, we can shape a future built on equity, opportunity, and prosperity for all.

Q: Thank you for your time, Mr. Tukur.
Thank you as well. I appreciate the opportunity to share our story, and I look forward to more collaborations that will empower our people and transform our nation.
