“Moral Mandate: Yobe Hisbah Destroys 243 Cartons of Alcohol, Vows Crackdown on Illegal Sales”

The Yobe State Hisbah Commission, in a dramatic public demonstration of its commitment to moral and religious values, on Thursday destroyed 243 cartons of assorted alcoholic beverages in Damaturu, the state capital. The destruction was part of a sweeping crackdown on the sale and consumption of alcohol, which remains banned in the state under Islamic and legal statutes.

The operation, led by the Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Yahuza Hamza Abubakar, took place amid tight security and in the presence of law enforcement officers, senior government officials, and curious members of the public. The seized alcohol was confiscated during a targeted raid at Maina Lodge in Damaturu, a location believed to be a hotspot for illicit alcohol sales.

Speaking at the scene, Dr. Yahuza reaffirmed that the consumption, distribution, and sale of alcoholic substances are in clear violation of Yobe State’s moral codes and religious injunctions. He described the exercise as both a moral obligation and a legal necessity, saying it sends a strong message to violators and reinforces the government’s commitment to building a society based on discipline, safety, and faith-based values.

> “The destruction of these intoxicants is a testament to our zero-tolerance policy. We will not allow anything that threatens the spiritual and social wellbeing of our communities,” Dr. Yahuza declared.

He thanked Governor Mai Mala Buni for his unwavering support and praised his administration’s role in empowering Hisbah to enforce the state’s moral and religious codes with renewed vigor.

In a related incident, the Local Government Hisbah Unit in Garin Alkali, Bursari LGA, destroyed an additional 17 cartons of alcohol, further showcasing the Commission’s determination to rid every corner of the state of substances deemed immoral and harmful.

The Commission called on residents to remain vigilant and cooperative by reporting suspicious activities and individuals engaged in the unlawful trade of alcohol and other banned substances. Dr. Yahuza emphasized that community participation is vital to the success of their mission.

> “Together, we can build a society where morality, discipline, and divine values reign supreme,” he concluded.

The Hisbah Commission reiterated its unshakable resolve to uphold religious teachings, safeguard public morality, and enforce the laws of the state without fear or favor — a stance it says will not waver in the face of resistance or criticism.
