Troops Eliminate 8 Bandits in Katsina Raid, One Soldier Wounded – Nigerian Army Vows to Sustain Momentum

In a daring and well-coordinated offensive, Nigerian Army troops under Operation Fasan Yanma have successfully neutralised eight armed bandits in Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State. The operation, launched in the early hours of Wednesday along the notorious Kurfi–Batsari axis, marks another decisive step in the military’s relentless war against banditry in the North-West region.

The Nigerian Army, in a statement released on Wednesday, confirmed that the elite troops stormed the criminals’ hideout with precision and overwhelming force, resulting in the deaths of eight bandits. The Kurfi–Batsari axis has long been a hotbed for criminal activity, including kidnappings, cattle rustling, and armed robbery.

During the fierce exchange of gunfire, one brave soldier sustained injuries while engaging the outlaws. He is currently receiving expert medical care at the brigade hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

“The gallant troops of Operation Fasan Yanma neutralized eight bandits during a high-impact offensive along the Kurfi–Batsari route in the early hours of today,” the statement reads. “A cache of weapons and other operational equipment belonging to the criminals were recovered at the scene.”

The military added that the security situation in the area has since stabilised, with troops maintaining a strong presence to deter any retaliatory attacks or regrouping by the bandit elements.

“Morale remains high among the troops, and their fighting efficiency is undiminished,” the statement concluded, signalling the army’s resolve to sustain pressure on criminal gangs across the region.

This latest success underscores the Nigerian Army’s commitment to restoring peace and security in troubled communities and sends a strong message to criminal elements that their reign of terror is nearing its end.
