In a remarkable show of unity and confidence, the National Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities (NAPWD), Adamawa State Chapter, has re-elected Malam Abdullahi Toungo as its Chairman, alongside a new set of executive members to steer the affairs of the association for the next four years.
The keenly observed election, held in Yola under the supervision of a representative from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), drew members from across the state in what has been described as a transparent and peaceful democratic exercise.

Speaking after the official declaration, Mr. Iliyasu Amos affirmed the endorsement of the executives by the majority of members, describing it as a testimony to the trust and faith the members have in their leadership. He called on the newly elected officials to remain tolerant, inclusive, and committed to the collective goals of the association.
In his remarks, the Zonal Coordinator of NAPWD, Mr. Nafi’u Musa, alongside the newly elected Organizing Secretary, Mr. Zembi Yayirus, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Almighty Allah for the success of the election. They urged members to remain united and place a renewed emphasis on educational advancement, which they said is key to empowerment.
On her part, the Women Leader of the Association, Mrs. Godiya Simon, hailed the peaceful conduct of the election and emphasized the need for greater gender inclusion in the association’s activities. Supporting her views, prominent stakeholder and legal practitioner, Barrister Salamatu, described NAPWD as a union of intellectuals and champions of social justice. She called for an environment that promotes gender balance and inclusiveness in leadership.

In his victory speech, the re-elected Chairman, Malam Abdullahi Toungo, expressed deep gratitude to God and commended the electoral committee for conducting a credible process. He assured members of his unwavering commitment to their welfare and development.
“I urge all Local Government Area representatives to be worthy ambassadors of this association in their respective communities,” Toungo said.
He also used the occasion to appreciate Engineer Sani Sabo, whom he described as a tireless contributor to the growth and development of NAPWD in Adamawa State.
The re-election of Abdullahi Toungo is widely seen as a continuation of stability, experience, and progressive leadership for the physically challenged community in the state.
