2027 Countdown: ADC Chieftain Shuwa Calls for National Coalition to Rescue Nigeria from APC’s ‘Misrule’

By Usman Umar

As political realignments intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, the 2023 governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State, Malam Muhammad Usman Shuwa, has issued a clarion call to patriotic and progressive politicians across Nigeria to unite under a formidable coalition aimed at rescuing the nation from what he described as the “crippling grip” of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking as Chairman of the occasion during a convergence of coalition partners hosted by the ADC Adamawa State chapter at Duragi Hotel, Yola, Malam Shuwa emphasized that the coalition is not just about unseating the APC in 2027, but about launching a full-scale national reset — tackling insecurity, ending corruption, revitalizing the economy, and restoring public trust in governance.

“This coalition is about reclaiming Nigeria. It’s not just about power; it’s about purpose,” Shuwa declared. “We must unite and offer Nigerians a viable alternative — one that will uproot the culture of mismanagement and hardship entrenched by the APC over the years.”

He described the current state of the nation as a national emergency, citing widespread poverty, growing insecurity, and rising economic discontent as undeniable evidence that the ruling party has failed to deliver on its promises.

Adding her voice to the call for unity, retired Comptroller of Immigration and Sarauniyar Guyaku, Gombi, Hajiya Larai Mohammed Zakari, expressed strong optimism that the ADC-led coalition would triumph in 2027 — by the will of Almighty Allah.

“This coalition, under the leadership of ADC, will not only succeed but will emerge victorious in 2027, In Sha Allah,” she said, praying for divine guidance and unity among coalition members to save Nigeria from “further deterioration.”

Earlier, the Adamawa State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Hon. Comrade Shehu Yohanna Kambile, set the tone for the gathering themed “Strengthening Alliances for a Better Nigeria.”

According to him, the convergence aimed to bring together key political actors and stakeholders to engage in strategic dialogue on the critical issues bedeviling the nation and to forge a unified front ahead of the 2027 elections.

“Our mission is clear — to build a powerful, people-centered alliance that will rescue Nigeria from the stranglehold of bad governance. The time to act is now,” Kambile charged.

He lauded the ADC National Chairman and the party’s leadership structures for their unwavering commitment over the years in building the ADC into a credible and vibrant political force capable of mounting a serious challenge to the APC.

As the 2027 elections draw nearer, the call for a united opposition coalition continues to grow louder, with many Nigerians eagerly watching to see if these emerging alliances can indeed deliver the change they promise — and the leadership the country desperately needs.
