The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the gruesome killing of a young man identified as Qasimu Umar, popularly known as “CD,” by unidentified gunmen in the quiet community of Buwangal, Ganye Local Government Area.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local population, sparking fear and outrage as residents grapple with the reality of growing insecurity.
Confirming the tragic development, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, told The Pioneer News that the case has been immediately handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters in Yola for a thorough and professional probe.
Nguroje assured the public that the command is committed to unraveling the mystery behind the killing, stressing that the investigation will be “comprehensive and meticulous.” He noted that no official statement would be issued until the facts are fully established, in order not to jeopardize the integrity of the investigation.
“We understand the grief and concern of the community,” Nguroje said. “However, we appeal for calm and patience as we allow our investigators to piece together the facts and identify those behind this senseless act.”
While details remain sketchy, sources close to the deceased described him as a vibrant young man known for his peaceful nature and active involvement in community life.
