Labour Party Implodes: Julius Abure Dares Peter Obi, Vows to Spill Explosive Secrets

The Labour Party is boiling in a cauldron of crisis as its National Chairman, Julius Abure, issued a fiery challenge to former presidential candidate Peter Obi and other key figures, warning that if pushed, he would expose secrets that could tarnish their reputations irreparably.

In a searing video broadcast by Symfoni on Tuesday, Abure broke his silence, declaring that he never received a kobo from any of the party’s presidential aspirants during the 2023 general elections, including Obi himself. Daring them to produce evidence to the contrary, Abure threatened to open a Pandora’s box of revelations that would leave them “smelling like rotten eggs.”

> “I want to challenge all of them—from Peter Obi downward—who contested the elections. Let any of them come out and tell the world what they personally gave to me or to the party,” Abure thundered before a crowd of party members in Abuja. “If they have evidence, let them bring it. If they don’t, let them forever hold their peace.”

The Labour Party boss hinted at an impending world press conference where he intends to lay bare details of what he describes as betrayal, hypocrisy, and internal sabotage. He claims to have remained silent out of loyalty and hope for reconciliation, but now sees that silence as being weaponized against him.

> “We believed the bad, the good, and the ugly in this party were all ours to manage. I stayed quiet about issues of agents and campaign funding, hoping for unity. But they’ve gone too far,” he said, visibly agitated. “Let them dare me again. If I open my mouth, they’ll become political liabilities—rotten eggs no one will touch.”

Abure’s comments underscore the deepening cracks within the Labour Party following its surprise emergence as a formidable third force in the 2023 polls. The once-hopeful political movement now finds itself embroiled in internal warfare over accusations of corruption, mismanagement, and betrayal.

In a particularly stinging rebuke, Abure lashed out at Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, the party’s only sitting governor, whom he accused of ingratitude and dishonesty.

> “Look at the governor jumping around like a cricket. We didn’t collect a single kobo from him,” Abure alleged. “When I met him at Transcorp, he asked, ‘Chairman, what do I do for you?’ I said, ‘Nothing. Use your money for the campaign.’ He should come out and say if he gave the party or me anything. The truth is, the party has not received even N1,000 from any of them.”

He further claimed that the party leadership rejected billions of naira in bribes and resisted immense political pressure during the elections—only to be repaid with treachery by those they had helped.

> “We stood firm when others would have caved. We turned down mouthwatering offers just to preserve the party’s soul. But those same people we shielded are now the ones leading the charge to destroy us.”

Abure’s blistering tirade is the latest in a wave of revelations and mudslinging rocking the Labour Party. With Obi yet to publicly respond, political observers anticipate a stormy reckoning that could either implode the party or redefine its fragile identity.

As the nation watches, one thing is clear: the Labour Party is teetering on the edge of a dangerous cliff—and Julius Abure appears ready to drag his opponents down with him.
