A tragic altercation at the Queen Barracks in Apapa, Lagos, has claimed the life of Inspector Ibrahim Usman, following a violent confrontation involving a fellow policewoman and her children.

Sources within the Lagos State Police Command told Zagazola Makama that the incident unfolded on Friday around 11:10 a.m., when a heated dispute erupted between W/Inspector Gambo Yusuf and the deceased Inspector Usman’s wife—both residents of the barracks.

The altercation quickly spiraled out of control. In a shocking twist, W/Inspector Yusuf and her children allegedly turned their aggression toward Inspector Usman himself, attacking him and forcefully knocking him to the ground. Usman reportedly lost consciousness instantly.

He was rushed in critical condition to the General Hospital in Apapa, where doctors, despite efforts to revive him, confirmed him dead upon arrival.

A team of detectives swiftly moved into action, cordoning off the scene and visiting the hospital. The deceased’s body was carefully inspected, photographed, and deposited at the morgue for preservation and a pending autopsy to ascertain the precise cause of death.

In the aftermath, W/Inspector Yusuf and her children were immediately taken into custody and are now under intense investigation.

“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, has ordered a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident to ensure that justice is served without fear or favor,” police sources revealed.

The tragic event has thrown the Queen Barracks community into mourning, raising serious concerns over internal discipline and conflict management among police personnel and their families.
