Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has approved the indefinite suspension of the District Head of Daware located in Fufore Local Government of Adamawa State, Alhaji Hassan Ja’afaru following allegations of corruption and high handedness.
In a statement signed by the permanent secretary of the state ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs, Adama Mamman, the government indicated that it has received complaints of maladministration, corruption, confiscation of farm lands and security breaches against the embattled chief, a development considered injurious to the reputation of the traditional institution in the state and a betray of trust.
The statement read in part: “series of complaints have been made against you for maladministration, breach of security, confiscation of farmlands, and creating a vacuum that has led to traditional issues unattended for as a result of your not staying in your domain.”
The statement further directed Alhaji Ja’afaru to immediately hand over all government property in his possession to the district scribe pending further action by the government.
Aljazirah Nigeria gathered that the embattled chief had been engulfed in widespread allegations corruption and disenchantment by subjects seeking justice and government’s intervention.
Some of the subjects who spoke to Aljazirah Nigeria on the condition of anonymity said that the action taken by the government had brought relief to many of them who have been subjected to humiliation and confirmed government’s sensitivity to the plights of the common man.
They appealed to the governor of the state to take further steps in restoring the dignity of the traditional institution and stopping the growing impunity prevalent in the institution.
“We are grateful for such demonstration of appreciable desire for good governance and his posture towards injustice. This institution which is the closest to the common man is no longer protective but becoming more exploitative” one of the subjects said.
