Busted! Kano Police Seize Tramadol Worth Over N150 Million Hidden Under Cement Bags, Nab Two Suspects

In a high-stakes operation that underscores Nigeria’s escalating battle against drug trafficking, the Kano State Police Command has intercepted a massive consignment of illicit pharmaceutical drugs worth over N150 million.

The revelation was made public by renowned security analyst and counterinsurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, via his official X handle, sending ripples across the security and anti-drug enforcement community.

According to credible police sources, operatives acting on intelligence launched a sting operation in Alharini village, situated in Ungogo Local Government Area of the state. During the raid, officers intercepted a mini truck disguised as a cement transporter. But a meticulous search soon uncovered the dark secret hidden beneath the heavy bags of cement — six colossal bales of suspected tramadol tablets, poised for illegal distribution.

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the smuggling attempt. They have been identified as Imrana Rabiu, the truck driver hailing from Bene town in Kebbi State, and Muntari Shuaibu from Kofar Gabas in Babura Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The police described the seizure as a major breakthrough in their ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks that have continued to fuel criminality and youth addiction in the region.

“This operation marks a significant success in our resolve to rid the state of illicit drugs. We remain committed to collaborating with other security agencies to ensure Kano is safe and drug-free,” a senior police source affirmed.

As the investigation continues, the arrest of the two suspects is expected to open a wider probe into the syndicate behind the illicit shipment, sending a strong message to traffickers across Nigeria — the heat is on, and there’s nowhere to hide.
